The Observatoire du documentaire<\/strong> and MEDIA<\/strong>, in association with the Canada Media Fund<\/strong> and Canadian Heritage<\/strong>, have published the ADDITIONAL FUNDING GUIDE FOR DOCUMENTARY FILM<\/strong>, the English version of the GUIDE DES FINANCEMENTS COMPL\u00c9MENTAIRES POUR LE DOCUMENTAIRE. The original French version of the guide, published last November, has also been revised and includes an updated list of available resources.<\/p>\n

Produced by the Documentary Network<\/strong> and Antenne Media Grand Sud<\/strong>, the ADDITIONAL FUNDING GUIDE FOR DOCUMENTARY FILM lists the major sources of additional funding available to the documentary industry in Canada, the US and Europe. It\u2019s a practical tool for Canadian, US and European filmmakers and producers to identify the different resources available for their own productions or co-productions: private funds dedicated to audiovisual content, including broadcaster funds, awards, grants, financial guidance and calls for projects by festivals, independent production cooperatives, provincial arts councils, crowdfunding platforms, help with distribution, marketing and audience development (US), hedge funds, the IFCIC (Institute for the funding of cinema and cultural industries), Sofica (France) and more.<\/p>\n

The publication is available in both official languages on the Documentary Network<\/strong> and Canada Media Fund<\/a><\/strong> websites.<\/p>\n

The ADDITIONAL FUNDING GUIDE FOR DOCUMENTARY FILM was produced thanks to financial contributions from the members of the Documentary Network<\/strong>, the Canada Media Fund, Canadian Heritage, and the Montreal Arts Council.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2003 the Documentary Network<\/strong> brings together the major professional associations, institutions, broadcasters and distributors involved in the Quebec and Canada documentary film industry. The organization strives to improve documentary film development, production and distribution. The Observatoire is a place where professionals gather to reflect on and discuss the industry to ensure documentaries are distributed on all available platforms.<\/p>\n

MEDIA<\/strong> is a European Commission program whose mission is to support the European audiovisual industry. MEDIA \u2014 comprised of 32 different member countries \u2014 endeavours to help address the dual challenge of producing content that respects cultural and linguistic diversities while making its mark on the international market. The MEDIA program\u2019s goal is to strengthen the European audiovisual industry\u2019s competitiveness through a series of incentives and the production of tools like the \u201cDocumentary Additional Funding Guide.\u201d Visit MEDIA online at http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/culture\/media\/index_en.htm<\/a>.
\nCanadian Heritage\u2019s Enhancement of Official Languages<\/em><\/strong> Program<\/em><\/strong> at is designed to foster among Canadians a greater understanding and appreciation of the benefits of linguistic duality. Through partnerships and agreements with provinces, territories and non-governmental organizations in support of second-language learning, and initiatives fostering mutual understanding between English- and French-speaking Canadians, this program brings Canadians to recognize and support linguistic duality as a fundamental value of Canadian society.<\/p>\n

The Canada Media Fund<\/a> (CMF) fosters, develops, finances and promotes the production of Canadian content and applications for all audiovisual media platforms. The CMF guides Canadian content towards a competitive global environment by fostering industry innovation, rewarding success, enabling a diversity of voice and promoting access to content through public and private sector partnerships.<\/p>\n
